IETF Internet-Draft on EDHOC authentication presented

IETF Internet-Draft EDHOC AuthenticationOn 20th November, a team from INSPIRE-5Gplus partner University of Murcia presented an IETF Internet-Draft on “AAA-based assisted EDHOC Authentication” at a meeting of the IETF Working Group on EAP Method Update (EMU). The draft is related to the authentication process of IoT end devices in the 5G architecture.

IETF Internet-Draft EDHOC AuthenticationThe document describes a proposal to place an Ephemeral Diffie-Hellman Over COSE (EDHOC) server in an external Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA) server. The purpose is to centralize the EDHOC authentication in the AAA infrastructure. It is proposed to employ the EDHOC authentication as a new Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) method for the secondary authentication procedure on 5G systems.
