INSPIRE-5Gplus contributes in International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud (FiCloud 2022)

 In News

9th International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud (FiCloud 2022)was held in Rome. The theme of this conference was to promote the state of the art in scientific and practical research of the IoT and cloud computing. It provides a forum for bringing together researchers and practitioners from academia, industry, and public sector in an effort to present their research work and share research and development ideas in the area of IoT and cloud computing.

As a contribution to the same, a paper supported by INSPIRE-5Gplus, entitled “Security Constraints for Placement of Latency Sensitive 5G MEC Applications” was presented by Rafał Artych from Orange Polska S.AMulti-access Edge Computing (MEC) is one of the key enablers in 5G, offering to external parties computing capabilities very close to the end users. The paper discusses the model for MEC infrastructure and MEC applications together with the definition of the problem of optimal application placement taking into account various constraints, including security, imposed by technical and business conditions. Data models for virtualized MEC infrastructure based on virtual machines and MEC standardization are proposed.

Furthermore, the INSPIRE-5Gplus enabler: the implementation of the proposed data models for MEC applications orchestration on the OpenStack-based platform were also presented.

The paper is published in FiCloud 2022 proceedings in IEEE Xplore database: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/9910552
